Disappointed: Household Items

I saw an ad for drill cleaning brushes and was dying to try them. I have a vinyl floor in my kitchen that got dirty when we bought the house. I've been trying to get rid of this for years and these scrubbers should have done the trick. Eh It's not like this. I started with a softer green round brush and mild cleanser and went to town on the floor. NOTHING. The water dripping off the floor wasn't even discolored by dirt. When I was done, the water looked like clear water and the bottom looked the same. Mind you, I haven't mopped for weeks, but I have swept. But we leave our muddy shoes in the kitchen stairwell, so at least there must have been dirt in there. I switched to a harder brush. Again nothing. I tried adding hot water, adding apple cider vinegar, etc. However, the dirt on my floor wouldn't budge. I ended up using the hardest brush. I put a paste of baking soda and vinegar on the soil and let it sit for a bit and then rubbed it off. Finally, with the help of glue and the hardest brush, I removed some dirt from the floor. But only as much as routine cleaning can help. It definitely couldn't go any lower. When I look at my floor now, I see that I have mopped and cleaned it. But the muddy ground is still there. I tried this brush on kitchen countertops. The lightest brush removed some really light stains, but it was very light and smooth. Not sure if it was worth getting the drill out of the shed and carrying it inside to clean the counter.
