I gave The Gambler 3 stars because I love the scent and the solid Eau de Cologne concept. But I, like many others, try a solid cologne in hopes that the scent will be more lasting and less diluted. 15 minutes after application, the waxy-sweet smell disappears and a very pleasant smell of tobacco, leather and spiced rum remains. Unfortunately, I was the only person who could smell him. My wife had to sniff my throat and sniff me like a hound to smell even the slightest odor, and two other people felt the same way when I asked their opinion. I tried again today and it's the same. No matter how much I apply, the scent just isn't strong enough to get past a few inches of my skin, and that's within the first 30 minutes. After a few hours, the smell has diminished to the point where even I can't smell it. Is it worth $22 for two hours of your own subtle aromatherapy? Maybe, but I'm still looking for cologne.
