The first is DOA, the second works fine

It just doesn't turn on at all. The supplied batteries do not work. Switched to batteries of the same model with a different brand and they didn't work. None of the buttons do anything. Conclusion? Already dead upon arrival. EDIT - Contacted Anvil directly and told them the scales weren't working. They immediately sent me a new one for free which works like a charm.
