Review on Enhance Your Display Experience with the GMK Portable Monitor: Full HD, Freesync 60Hz, HDR, IPS by Shawn Baer

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Lightweight portable monitor, no touch screen

December 2021 upgrade to 5 stars. The replacement monitor has arrived. The old and new monitors will be tested throughout the day. The old monitor still has inconsistent power on/connect times. The new monitor does not have this problem. December 2021 update. 1 star, the monitor does not always turn on. We have to play with him to work. replacement ordered. I will update the rating after the exchange. Nov 2021 This wearable monitor from GMKtec is easy to set up. Not too many instructions on how to connect to the phone. You are dependent on the phone's built-in driver/application to connect to this monitor. I have a Samsung 8 laptop. There are two ways to connect Note8 to a monitor. In one case, the phone becomes a remote keyboard and the monitor an extension of the phone. This is great if you want to watch movies on the big screen. It's a little awkward to navigate, so I opted for a broadcast mode like Google Home. A monitor basically shows or duplicates what you see on your computer screen. The monitor's landscape mode restricts streaming. The screen isn't much bigger than what you see on your phone screen. I don't know how to change the translation from landscape to portrait mode, so casting the phone to the monitor is of limited use. The best thing about this monitor is that it serves as a second monitor for your laptop or desktop computer. The laptop is connected using the supplied HDMI to mini HDMI cable. My wife started using it for her work and it makes it easy to view different pages at the same time. The monitor has a matte screen, but the resolution looks good. What I don't like is that this monitor doesn't have a built-in battery. You must use the battery to power the monitor when using it outside of the office or at home. I think the monitor was around $240 at the time of ordering. At this price I was expecting a portable touchscreen monitor.

Pros
  • Built-in speakers provide high-quality sound without the need for external speakers.
Cons
  • zero
