Review on Enhance Your Display Experience with the GMK Portable Monitor: Full HD, Freesync 60Hz, HDR, IPS by Steve Brandenburg

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Points: Design 5, Image 4, Port 1, Touch Screen 0

I have a 15.6 4K UHD touchscreen. I was excited to buy it after comparing different products at Revain. and it looks very nice with a narrow border (top, left, right). the bottom border is too wide, but that doesn't matter (score 5). but after a day of use, this product has critical flaws to work with my Macbook Pro M1 max 2021 connected via USB Type-C.1) strange touchscreen behavior (score 0). This is my first time using a touchscreen monitor and I expect it to work like a phone, iPad or even a touchpad e.g. One finger scrolling up and down, two fingers zooming in and out etc. etc. but I'm dead wrong, this touchscreen works like a mouse. For example, when you scroll up/down with one or two fingers, it's actually a text selection, just like when I left-click and scroll up/down. WTH! I searched the clock on google but still didn't find a solution how to use it for scrolling/zooming. If this is not possible, then what is the point of the touch screen? The description says it supports 10 touch points but the behavior is so strange. I think this can be solved with a software driver, but I couldn't find where to get one, not even on the GMKTec official website. 2) connection. A blank screen appears twice in the first few hours. one during my meeting, the other during my coding. I didn't touch the cable or move the monitor, it just suddenly stopped working and the message "No signal" appeared in the middle of the screen. I've tried reselecting the input port from the monitor menu, doesn't work. Re-plugin is the only way to get it working again. It's such a bad experience, definitely a hardware failure. 3) Image quality (score 4). It's good. but an obvious gap compared to the Macbook's built-in display, I tried a different configuration than the menu settings. Good for me. I don't expect a $100 monitor to catch up with the built-in MacBook. I'll put up a comparison photo. If you zoom in, you'll see an obvious gap between the two. The touchscreen and connectivity are key. I contacted GMKTec support yesterday to see if they have a solution. They say they'll get back to you later. So I give him 3 points now. I will update the rating if GMKTec support can unlock me. If not, I have to send the device back.
