First off I wouldn't call them 'trendy' - they're only 1/4 inch from top to bottom so whoever sees them will probably win. I don't know they are there. The initials are almost invisible, so any "statement" they can make is questionable. Second, the gold "pipe" clasps shown in the top image are not the ones that came with the earrings. If you look at the fifth picture below you will see little plastic spines with a little gold rim to try and hold on to. I suspect if I were trying to put these earrings on a young child I would spend a lot of money a lot of time climbing the floor. looking for dropped earrings and backs. They come in a cute little teal suede pouch but in reality they are not as impressive as the picture in the listing.
