This sketchbook was used for a watercolor magazine workshop in Gran Mare, Minnesota. Excellent execution in pencil, technical pen and light watercolor washes. I preferred a smooth surface and white sides for the outdoor subjects I painted. Others may find it more convenient to use a textured finish and an off-white side color. (You can make your own accordion-style sketchbook out of the paper of your choice.) The size is convenient and it fits easily in my small sketch bag. If you're sketching in landscape orientation, bring a staple with you to keep the book open and flat in your hand. Also, you may need a thick rubber band to keep it closed. Like many others, I like sketchbooks a little. This was my first experience with an accordion sketchbook. I liked creating a composition of individual sketches that flow into each other on the pages. I will definitely be using accordion style albums in the future, especially for travelogues.
