These stools look great and I love that they are height adjustable. BUT. They are adjustable up and down by rotating the chair. This is what most people start with when they are sitting in a chair that appears to be spinning. What appears to be a locking mechanism (the part with the protruding bars) is ineffective at best. I twist and pull it as tight as I can and after 5 minutes it loosens up and the chair can rotate again. It wouldn't be such a big deal if there was some kind of stop at the bottom of the shaft to keep it from spinning up and down. but no. So if you turn up too far you can unscrew the seat right off the base. Dangerous. I keep checking them for fear of someone getting hurt. It's too late to return it, but I need to exchange it.
