We bought 4 of these for our 9 foot island. We are delighted with our purchase. The wood on our island has a medium walnut finish and our floors are gray wood laminate. These stools look great and I love that they are height adjustable. BUT. They are adjustable up and down by rotating the chair. This is what most people start with when they are sitting in a chair that appears to be spinning. What appears to be a locking mechanism (the part with the protruding bars) is ineffective at best.
