Fast, Compact, Affordable

I decided to give them a try after having a bad experience with the more expensive Lexar Professional USB 3.0 Dual Slot Reader (LRW300URBNA). They don't have an SD card slot, but as a professional dSLR photographer, I almost never store data on SD cards. I found them far superior to the Lexar product. It has no moving parts, no silly "folding" design, and no long cords to wrap and pack. The lack of a flex cable can be an issue if you need to run more than one cable at a time. On many computers, the width of the device can block adjacent USB ports. I solved the problem by purchasing a 6 inch USB3 extension cable for about a dollar from MonoPrice. (Back then, Revain didn't offer anything remotely priced comparable, but maybe that's changed?) They're very light, so if you're looking for something heavy in your hands, this might not be the product for you. They appear solid and well constructed, but unreliable. in my collection. The design on them has improved even more. They seem to be a bit heavier and stronger than my first generation devices. First generation devices also feel a little sloppy when the card is pushed onto the pins, but this latest device inspires confidence.

Pros
  • NON-SLIP EXTERIOR: Our patented soft rubber case is ruggedly constructed to protect CF cards, grip surfaces, and block defects. Our reader is doing one thing, and doing it very, very well. We're not looking for 53 card type compatibility, we're looking for 100% CF reader perfection.
