Review on Magnavox MD6972: Portable CD Boombox with AM/FM Radio, Color Changing Lights, Bluetooth, and LCD Display by Shahed Cleveland

This ghetto blaster is a bargain (and you get what you pay for)

First the good news: the sound of this little ghetto blaster isn't the worst. Don't expect to be great and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Also, I haven't bought a boombox since I was young in the 80's, so I was very happy to find one with Bluetooth functionality. And the glowing panel is a fun little bonus (and don't worry, you can turn it on or off depending on your mood). And now for the rest: you've probably figured out that there's no remote control on this one. But there is more. You will definitely feel the return of the 80's, as you navigate the awkward buttons and knobs. The CD cover opens and closes manually. The display is very minimalist. Want to know what song you're listening to right now? Too bad the display doesn't tell you! And the most disappointing thing: In terms of Bluetooth function, the music sounds great. But when you try listening to podcasts or Audible, the quality varies wildly, to the point of frustration. This boombox is fine if you're looking for something cheap and willing to put up with a few quirks. and rough corners. I've been enjoying it since I ordered it so I can't fault it too much. But as a fan of podcasts and audio recordings, I'm definitely disappointed. But for $40 I won't complain too much about it.
