I am very impressed with the quality of this product, both in terms of materials and technique. I really expected a lot less for the price. Although advertised as "Do It Yourself - Assembly Required" the components are made of high quality cast iron and steel. Assembly is made easier by having my own tools (as opposed to those provided) and sometimes an extra pair of hands. These stools are very durable, easy to move and add real rustic charm to our breakfast bar. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a country style update. Small revision of the review. I just noticed today that the screws that attach the seat to the cross member (already fitted in the box) were loose or fell out. When I tried to tighten them I noticed that they wouldn't stay put and looked undressed. The screws we used were for 1 inch drywall. I replaced them all (24 on 3 chairs) with 1 5/8" coarse thread drywall screws and that fixed it. It was probably necessary to make longer screws to begin with.
