So I read all the reviews and realized that putting it together might be a challenge. I'm pretty skilled, so I gave it a chance. There is nothing on the bottom to hold the bottom blanks in place. I had to cut 2 pieces of wood and add them to the bottom. Nothing keeps the balcony from the lower kennel. Very strange. I just installed the balcony above and need to add some brackets. Luckily my dog that uses this isn't crazy so it holds together but it won't be strong for a really active dog. And yes, the stairs stink. I bought a separate ladder and it works great. It's called the cat house, so the included ladder is enough for the cat. My dog loves being on the balcony and it keeps him off the floor. So it works the way I wanted it to, but while it was convenient, it was difficult to set up. I found that all the screws are aligned and the color is actually good. My dog loves it but only order if you can handle the task.
