Review on πŸ§₯ AlvaQ Open Front Long Cardigan for Women - Lightweight Lace Crochet, Casual Loose Button Down Sweater Knit Outwear by Jared Allred

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Weirdly different fabric in sleeves doesn't' match in color or fiber content

I ordered this lace cardigan in size XX-large and it fits over my 48" bust and 49" hips just fine. The "apricot" color is ivory, and the cardigan comes to the mid-to lower thigh on my 5'8" frame. The cardigan isn't very flattering on my middle-aged body, but my biggest disappointment is the sleeves, which seem to be from an entirely different sweater. They are a different pattern (which is fine, and I knew from the product photos), but the big problem is that they are knit from entirely different yarn than the rest of the sweater, so the colors don't match. In person, the body of the sleeves is a lot brighter than the rest of the sweater or than the cuffs. I could even forgive a slight color difference, but there's no way the sleeves are a cotton/acrylic blend like the rest of the sweater--they feel nasty and very plasticky-synthetic. The main body of the sweater is very soft, with an attractive pointelle lace pattern and nice details at the hem and sleeve cuffs. If the sleeves had been made from the same yarn as the rest of the sweater, it would certainly be worth a 5-star rating, but I'm dinging the rating for the very odd, mismatched sleeves. I'm trying to figure out whether this would make a decent cap-sleeved summer cardigan if I just cut off the synthetic sleeves at the extended shoulder line. I'm not sure what the manufacturer was thinking with this one, but it was a bad decision.
