Real World Survival Test

I'll try to be brief, but I know it's just not going to happen. If you don't read past this line, you know this. This strap allowed me to get myself and my family home on our Tahoe without leaving my Tahoe and walking 10+ miles down the mountain in the snow to the nearest civilization. Last weekend I decided to take my wife, two sons and a dog for a day trip up the forest road to the mountains to play in the snow. Little did I know I would be fighting nature for the next 28 hours to get my Tahoe out of 2 feet of snow. After playing in the snow at 2100 feet in light snowfall, we continued our climb to about 3500 feet where the road quickly lost elevation. After walking most of the way down the mountain, I hit a log about 3 feet in diameter and was forced back up the mountain. In the meantime the snow had picked up and dumped about a foot of snow on the descending section we had just passed and now we had to climb. The Tahoe quickly lost traction and prepared me poorly without the chains (I later found out they wouldn't help much anyway). I started pulling the Tahoe up the hill. I've used this strap to wrap countless trees, readjusting the winch and strap every 100 feet or so. I ended up doing this from 5:30pm Saturday to 4:00pm Sunday. A total of 20 hours of wind with rest breaks. My dad ended up getting me two sets of chains, which I used to walk the 2.5 miles to get to Tahoe. This got us a little ahead, and eventually it came down to the winch and back to that tape for the final stretch. I'll admit the green fabric protecting the strap was almost burnt, but it didn't fray into the black part of the strap. Despite the fact that in frosty weather it was covered with snow and tightened around the trees, this tape held up flawlessly. I'll probably replace it just to be safe, but I'm not sure I really need to. I've asked a lot about this harness and it's one of the reasons my family and I stay home and my Tahoe sits in the driveway. The strap survived the winds giving me one last chance to get out of the deep snow before it failed. Thanks Rhino USA. I'm glad I bought this harness and have become a regular customer. If you have any doubts about a purchase, don't do it. This could save your life or your plant.
