In general the machine works well. It often gets stuck, but it only takes a quick twist of the knob to get it back on track. The coil loads easily, the stitches are strong but very small. #3 looks like it's supposed to be a gathering stitch, but it's really tiny. This machine is good for simple things, but not for making clothes in general. My main complaints are that it's very slow, the light is an odd quality, it's too reflective so I can't see the eye of the needle, and the thread has to be on a small spool that's hard to find. Apart from that it works fine. I'm going to return it anyway and buy Brother jx3517 at Wal-Mart for $76.
