Review on Kiinde Foodii Homemade Squeeze Pouch System: Baby Food Maker with Reusable Spouts, Spoons, and Food Storage Pouch Starter Kit for Babies and Toddlers by Dewitt Graham

Exactly what I was looking for!

We already have (and love) the Kiinde Twist system for expressing and breastfeeding, so I was excited when they released the Foodii system, which uses the same pouches to prepare, store and feed pureed milk. Food! The system is very easy to use and quite understandable. Here are some notes I made about the process. PREPARATION Before filling, mark the bag with the date and contents. (Much harder to do this when it's full!) I can't stress this enough. You think you can tell green beans from peas, but once they're frozen, forget it. Keep air out of the pouch when you attach it to the Squeeze Snack Filler Tin. Fill the bag about halfway, then carefully remove it and tap it lightly on the table to allow the contents to settle and remove any air bubbles before adding food. Remove as much air as possible from the bag, then screw the lid on. (They tend to tear apart if not perfectly threaded.) Toss in the fridge or freezer for storage. FEEDING Squeeze the spoons - the spoon slips into the pouch, not unscrews (very much like teats if you used Kiinde bottles). ). It is made of flexible, pacifier-like silicone and has a smaller opening than the spout. This allows for a very smooth transition for children who are just being introduced to solid foods. Snack Spouts - Spouts screw securely onto bags and lids onto spouts for convenient, portable packaging. This is the perfect feeding option for an older child or toddler. Our son can hold a bag and happily eats without help. Plastic bags fold easily during feeding, but they don't hold their shape like the pre-packaged snack bags you buy in stores. So when your child takes their mouth off the spout, air can (and will) get into the bag. It didn't cause any problems for our son, but it's something to be aware of. OTHER THOUGHTS The bags are a little pricey, but I found them durable enough to be washed and reused multiple times before recycling. . You can also just seal a half-made bag and save it for later. Also note that the Twist and Foodii packs are exactly the same, so buy the ones you find on sale. If you're freezing in portions, you can take a few bags at a time to thaw in the fridge. We have a Kozii bottle warmer, which is good, but it takes about 15 minutes to fully thaw a bag of frozen food. Children's bottle crates are a fantastic addition to this system. They prevent clutter by preventing our son from squeezing packages too tightly. We also have a keeper shelf which is handy for storing grocery bags in the freezer. I appreciate that Kiinde is offering such a low price for this kit, but I wish they would also offer a "premium" Foodii kit that includes a storage tray and a couple of bottle caps, as not everyone who uses the Foodii system wants to use, already owns the Twist system. SUMMARY The Kiinde Foodii system is a truly fantastic tool for making squeezable food pouches for your baby or toddler. This inexpensive starter kit complements the Kiinde Twist bottle system particularly well, but is equipped with enough components for personal use. We love it!
