Review on Wireless Flash Speedlite with Radio Slave for Canon - YONGNUO YN685 - GN60 2.4G System with ETTL and HSS Capabilities by David Banks

The lightning is not delivered, neither is the seller. Beware of both!

I've had a few other YN handheld flashes and they were generally good. I needed TTL capability and based on the reviews of this device I definitely felt it fit the bill. I've read a few reviews about DOA shipping and I usually don't worry about problems returning DOA products because I come first. Some reviews here speak of misfiring, sticking, or overheating issues. Unfortunately, I was on set about a week after closing the rear window and was able to test the flash. It was awful and embarrassing because I was actually shooting for another company. First thing I noticed was that it wasn't firing - turned it off and on again, looked at the battery gauge and it said everything was fine. I charged new batteries this morning so I figured not to worry. Anyway, I went back to my old YN and did a manual setup for this shoot. The real fun came when I tried to contact the seller for the product. I don't know where they are located but email replies back and forth took a few days. They wanted me to upload a YouTube video for them to watch - I guess to see if I made it up! I finally gave up trying to return them or get warranty service from them because it was too complicated. I take $100 to buy it and write it off. I will never deal with this seller again. I'm also still looking for another flash that isn't as hard on my wallet as the OEM.

Pros
  • Pretty package
Cons
  • Can't remember
