I bought this to replace an almost identical product. The only real difference is that this one can toggle between the lighting effects (a button on the connector labeled 'Press'), while the predecessor was always on, and that's it. I use them for lighting in my living room as there is no other overhead lighting. I have attached photos. The first was before I hung the new string of lights. In this photo, the string I replaced is on the right - note how dull it is compared to the string on the left. Less luminous right side after 4 years of regular use. The light was getting dimmer so I bought a new set. Photo 2 shows the new headlights and they look great. The headlights were rolled up on a plastic wheel, which makes installation easier. No tangle. No trouble. (Friendly reminder: Always remember to plug the bulbs in straight out of the box before installing to make sure they work.) I hope they last at least 4 good years. For the price (around $26) I think this is a great deal. I don't see any real increase in my electricity bill using these and as I'm often nocturnal they last for many hours. Please note that I only use them on cloudy days or at night. During the day, when it's light, I just open the curtains. This may seem obvious, but I mention it because these lights are not direct ceiling lights and therefore do not emit as much light. So don't expect this to replace fluorescent or fluorescent lighting. The first 2 photos were taken with the neon lights on in the kitchen (to the left of the photo, open space). The third photo was taken in the kitchen with the lights off. I have found that these lamps help prevent eye strain and reduce headaches. I also noticed that they remember the last used lighting setting, even if they've been unplugged and turned back on. Another string of lights right next to it does not save the last setting and has to be reset each time (slight but chronic irritation). So I'm very happy that this kit doesn't have to be restarted every time I plug it in. I use these 3M detachable hooks to hang my lights. Sometimes the hooks break off (especially in hot, humid summers) and the sections fall off. So if you don't mind hanging small screw hooks on the walls, I would recommend this. I rent, so I try never to poke holes in the walls whenever and wherever I can. Finally, if you doubt it, I can tell you: I find this type of lighting extremely pleasant and relaxing. It's helping with my depression and anxiety, which I wasn't expecting but for which I'm incredibly grateful.
