I used very strong magnets (from a dead hard drive) to find the pins. Let's say the builder nailed the drywall to the center of the stud. This worked as I could leave it on the nail and I didn't have to mark the wall. But sometimes it was difficult to find the nails, and sometimes the builder nailed the drywall off-center (pillars). Professional help was needed and this nail finder is pretty good at finding nails. I like the center markers, including the audible buzz, and the indicator showing the direction you need to move to find the center. It's very easy to use, but I had to restart the scan multiple times to get readings. It is very easy to read and is accurate IF it finds a hairpin. The main disadvantages lie in the discovery process. I find it quite annoying having to keep pressing scan even when slowly moving it as instructed. As for the electrics, when I wasn't near an outlet it wasn't detected very well. Looks like I'm going to combine my "strong magnet" method with this bolt finder. The included level helps a lot and upgrades this pack.
