This bracket has a flat piece of cast aluminum and is very sensitive to high torque levels. As long as a little LocTite is used to secure the screw, there's no need to press hard on the RAM mount and risk breaking it. The ball is a standard 1 inch RAM ball which adapts to other RAM mounts and works great. as advertised. The ball's soft coating keeps the extension secure, and mounting my phone to the bike wasn't a problem, even at highway speeds. The phone didn't shake much while riding and now I have a GPS on my bike! I installed it on a 2015 Yamaha FZ-07 using one of the screws that secures the speedometer/tachometer display to its bracket. Different places may have different results.
