Bought these to try a different in-ear retention design as none of the non-hook types stay in the ears no matter how much force is used to twist them. So I decided to give them a try as the Sony name, reputation and price were all reasonable. Earhooks cause more pain than I thought. I have a small earring with a wrong earbud and I always have a hard time fixing this earlobe. In general, both sides are not the easiest to install. That being said, once in place, the speakers are in a good position and definitely won't fall out or come out unless there's good cable tension. You keep the sound away from your ear for others to hear if you like listening out loud. The extra bass claim is just a claim in my opinion as they don't fit snugly in the ear canal, it's impossible to get deep bass with them. They sound good if you can do without very deep bass. Once activated, they remain. They lose 1 star due to the lack of harder bass and 1 star due to the complexity of the battle hooks. I needed a pair that would stay in place and these will definitely stay in place.
