Review on Columbia TurboDown Hooded Jacket for Men - Voodoo Falls 590 by Damien Krzywicki

Cheaper product and assembly - not what it used to be. So disappointed

so I originally bought one of these just about a year ago. The jacket is great, warm and durable. So a year later I decide let's buy another one just in case it gets discontinued. Wow what a difference and not for the better. My original has been feeling the quality for a year now. What stood out the most was another example of a company cutting corners to save a few dollars but charging the same price. The photo shows that on my original all the points of the logo have been embroidered and the assembly on the jacket is excellent. The right one is new. If you look closely they took all the dot areas of the logo and screened off the text and in the coat hook area they just used clean material. The same applies to embroidered areas if they are scratched or rubbed. They remain just as beautiful, still legible. Now, on the cheap shielded version, if you scratch the fabric the wrong way round, the lettering will rub off and the jacket will look cheap and shabby. I wish they hadn't. On the fence, use it or give it back. Come on, Columbia and Revane should take note and demand the best of Columbia.

Pros
  • good thing
