Running through my wall are HDMI cables for our TVs and some of the newer Chromecast devices that plug directly into the HDMI port on the back of the TV and through the USB port with it The problem is that the Chromcast device I wanted to use couldn't get enough power from our TV's USB port, so it had to be plugged into the wall. Since there was no outlet behind the TV I had to use an HDMI cable that ran through the wall to connect it to the Chromecast and then to the power supply - this adapter allowed me to use my existing HDMI cable and was very easy to connect. So if you try to do something like this, this will help.
