That's deceptive. It's a matte look but feels very smooth. If you have one of their "soft-touch" faceplates, you expect that feeling. Installation was easy. The original screws fit, only screw in before assembly. Mine fits with no burrs or seams on the edges. The only criticism I would like is the internal cutouts for the LED/USB part. The cut out for the white thin plastic strip is wrong and I had to remove it. Leaving it inside left a gap in the case because it didn't close completely. I just took it out, it is not needed for any lightbar function (top or front). I transferred the decal from my original shell (which was broken) to this new one.
