Hesitant on these picks after seeing mixed reviews but decided to try them as my application required additional support between sections of a large 'L' letter shaped desk . You don't need as much as a countertop. Reviews that say it's not research and bending either have completely unrealistic expectations or are just plain wrong. enough. I put all my weight on them and they didn't bend at all. When I looked at them the size and thickness were hard to tell from the photos, below they are on a 1.5 inch thick cutting block.
