Review on πŸ‘¨ Maverick Electronic Thermometer and Timer: The Ultimate Kitchen Companion by Reid Rickerson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Lasted 2 years then had to retire

I bought this thermometer 2 years ago and ended up having to replace it. When I first bought it the temperature readings were accurate and over time the calibration started to fluctuate. I learned to compensate for this, but eventually the connector you plug the probe into started to malfunction and no longer make a good connection. There is one thing about the functionality of the device that I have to warn people about. It has an alarm that can be set to any desired temperature. That's not the point - it's a pre-alarm that sounds 10F before the set temperature. Let's say you set the frying temperature to 130F. The pre-alarm starts beeping at 120F and won't stop until it reaches the desired temperature. THIS IS ANNOYING! One way to mitigate this is to set the alarm temperature to 10F above the desired temperature and use the pre-alarm as the desired temperature alarm. Despite this downside, it worked well for me and paid for itself. Overall, I'm happy with how much I've benefited from it.
