Took a chance - Amplifier

I really like this Sabaj USB DAC, the Da3. Of course, I hesitated a bit and spent a little over $100. Of course, if money isn't an issue for you, this item wouldn't even be something you would buy. If you are reading this, like me you are a music lover who wants the best sound quality at the lowest price. Why? Because thanks to Chi-Fi we have this possibility. Yes, Sabaj, Fiio, Topping and many others are Chinese high-end audio companies! The cost of production of all these fabulous $100-$500 wonders is so low in China that by the time it reaches good ol' USA it's still low. Many of these companies, of course, only exist on the extensive pages of Revain. I trust Reven. I can get delivery within two days and mostly overnight for a full refund direct to Revain. They call it the Revain Effect. The Revain showroom is so huge that if you saw it with your own eyes it would seem miles away, as far as the human eye can see. It's like looking out to sea from the beach. You can only see so far. We're really fortunate that Revain's reliability and customer service is just an email or phone call away. Revain recently launched their own shipping company too! Revain Logistics bypasses the good old USPS, FEDEX and UPS. This is a brilliant idea and business strategy from one of the richest people in the world with the biggest showroom known to man (or animal). Thank you Jeff! Let's get back to the rating. Sabaj Da3 is an amazing device. It played every file I threw at it in the last 8 hours. Pretty boring life for me, as you might think. However, this notion would be wrong. I'm a music lover, yes, a music lover on a budget too. Many of you can tell, I'm sure. Da3 promises only one USB-C input and 2 types of outputs: a headphone or 3.5mm line out or a much better, cleaner and more powerful BALANCED 2.5mm line out. Your headphones must be BALANCED and support high definition along with this trrs 2.5mm cable. I've been listening to this musical wonder for about 8 hours now. I have others: Fiio K3, Topping NX2 and NX3. Also Sony PHA-A1 and Audiuquest Dragonfly Red. Then why buy another DAC if I like all the others? diversification. Everyone has their own attributes, qualities and problems. I love my new Sabaj Da3 for many reasons, but I'm sure you want a review and not a chapter from The Audiophile's Choice for Us All. (This isn't actually a real book.) Aside from the special features of this extremely well built silver aluminum tapered block, it is very light and very portable. I now use it with one of my favorite media consumption devices, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4. I also tried this with my Samsung Note 9 and it works great! PC next. Last but not least, a small 1 inch black LED screen on the front of the Da3. It displays your bitrate and output information in Hz and kHz. It also displays the exit number from the volume buttons! There are three sound modes to choose from to customize the sound a bit. I'm not sure how accurate that is, but whatever. Choosing between a standard 3.5mm headphone jack and a balanced 2.5mm headphone jack is the final option. The device remembers your choice and always restarts with medium audio output. Another great feature. The device has no internal battery. The power supply depends on your smartphone, tablet and PC. The leakage is very small, but still worth mentioning. In fact, you can fold the device with your smartphone and take it with you on the go. I believe it was actually made for home use, but it's great that there are options! Love the options but not too many extras. That's exactly what you get with the Sabaj Da3. It's clean, pure, powerful sound that will work with many, if not all, headphones on the market today. Of course I have a small collection of some of the big players. Sony, Audio Technica, Sennheiser HD58X and others, V Moda, AKG and Beyerdynamic. Again, this only takes one sentence. But like so many of you reading this (if you've gotten this far), we have our favorites. I love my Sony MDR-1AM2. It has a detachable cable that allows me to replace it with a separately purchased, higher quality 2.5mm balanced cable. I could go on! I won't, try to concentrate. Please remove this from my review. This is a high quality hi-fi at a very reasonable price for audiophiles and everyone else. The sound is consistent with punchy bass and excellent fantastic high frequencies. The mids are the hardest to replicate, and the Da3 does it beautifully. No treble or exaggerated bass. Truly natural, very high-resolution sound that puts you right in the front row of the recording studio or on stage. It is amazing to distinguish and hear individual instruments and vocals. I'm sure it will keep you awake after you go to bed. And that's the only downside I can think of! After a long search I decided on Sabaj Da3. An amazing DAC/amp that really fits the bill. This is my new favorite USB DAC. Sabaj should be recognized here as a quality audiophile company for those of us who are still on a budget. And that's very good.
