While this mocha pot works it is quite finicky compared to others I've used and is by far the cheapest quality I've seen. I have used several different moka pots over the years and currently have three different sizes and brands. This is the cheapest moka pot I have ever used or seen in terms of build quality. The hinged lid dangles almost comically. The thickness of the water tank material is EXTREMELY thin. I've had aluminum and steel mocha pans, but even the much smaller models I have are a bit heavier than these. I have no way of knowing whether or not this will affect the quality of the brew (or maybe the speed, which REALLY affects this style of brewing). 2. The size I chose is 450ml, PERFECT for my wife and I. All the other pots I have are too small for both of us, resulting in me making 2 "batches" to meet our needs (which is a lot of coffee and VERY strong). If you use it to make lattes like we do and you like a strong latte, this size is ideal for two people. Anything else would be insufficient IMO.3. Let's clear up some misinformation on the marketing/shop side. Serving sizes by size are A LOT different IMO. 8-9 people for 450ml?!? No way. I think 300ml would be perfect for one person or maybe someone below. Next: Are you saying to use cold water? Nooooo. For the best infusion/flavor when using, you must use hot, almost boiling water. If you use cold water there is a 95% chance your coffee will burn as long as it gets hot enough to boil and go through the coffee grounds. Here are the best practice steps to do this: A. Use HOT water e.g. B. 190ΒΊF+B. Use a medium to fine grind (but not espresso, especially on this particular model). C. do. no Rubber stamp. Don't push down on the grounds when they're in the filter or you'll mess up the mix (Coffee won't come out. Well, it comes out the sides!) D. Make sure the metal rim of the filter is intact is . There shouldn't be coffee grounds on top of the rim, or you'll end up with a hot (and potentially dangerous) mess on your hands. Screw the top firmly onto the base.E. Medium to low heat. On my induction stove, I have heat settings from 1 to 9 - I use 4 for pot coffee. Wanna ruin your beer? Use cold water and high burner/stove temperature. Tin.F. Take it off the heat before you think it's done. If you wait until the device stops making noise before removing the device from the burner, your coffee will burn. This can be learned with experience (it helps to visually determine the level of coffee in the tank and remove it from the heat when you see it approaching the typical level). MUCH pickier than any I've used before. This means that out of the 10 or so batches I've made so far, I've had to throw away 3 because "something" was wrong. I suspect I put in too much coffee grounds or didn't twist it tight enough. Anyway, I've made hundreds and hundreds of mochas over the years so I'm no beginner and don't know how to do it right. I have to assume it's bad design that's causing these problems. Now I've adjusted and I'm SUPER aware of the amount of coffee and the tightness, but you don't need to be so vigilant in my opinion. Overall I'd give this 2.5 stars if I could - it certainly isn't great, but once you see its features you can always get a decent batch from this model. I would recommend trying at least the OG Moka Pot (Bialetti) brand as they are usually quite cheap (the whole point of Moka Pot coffee in the first place). !). A problem I've had in the past has been finding a Bialetti model large enough for induction. very picky about successful brewing versus burning coffee and coming out of the sides. I think it's me who got used to my other moka pots, but after a while I can get very similar results with this one. The size also makes it my goto moka pot, although the quality of this item is way below my other two.
