I wanted to finish my custom Razer setup. I recently bought a Viper Ultimate Wireless Mouse and wanted to try a keyboard with optical switches. So I bought a Huntsman Elite with linear optical switches. This keyboard is very sensitive and takes some getting used to. I was a bit concerned about the hard front edge of the palm rest, but I can say it's actually quite comfortable and I haven't had any issues with it so far. The pillow is softer and more comfortable than I expected. I hope it doesn't deteriorate over time (we'll see). The backlight added to the palm rest is a nice touch, and I'm very happy that magnets are used to attach to the keyboard. I've used several Corsair keyboards that used plastic clips to secure the palm rest and all broke. I was also a little worried about the volume wheel, it's a lot more powerful than I expected. The font they use for Razer keyboards is aesthetically pleasing, clean and clear. I wish the rear legs were a bit more massive, they feel a little flimsy compared to the rest of the keyboard construction. It would be nice if the backlighting of individual keyboard keys were a bit brighter, but they are within what I would call reasonable. Key travel is definitely shorter compared to other keyboards I've used in the past and it takes a bit of getting used to. You definitely don't have to go all the way down for your computer to register a keypress, in which case it feels extremely responsive and fast. I think if you get used to pressing a little lighter you could theoretically type faster, but personally I haven't managed to do that yet. I ran some typing tests and my typing speed didn't improve with the keyboard, but I can see the potential for that after actually using it. I seriously doubt whether you really need this keyboard to be competitive in games. I used the Cyber Power PC keyboard prior to purchasing the Huntsman Elite and it did the job perfectly. I think mice have a much greater impact on my competitive ability in games and this keyboard is just the icing on the cake. An extra thing to keep me comfortable with my gaming setup. It is convenient when keyboard and mouse are highlighted. Overall, I really like this keyboard. If you have the extra cash for a prettier keyboard I'd recommend considering this, but I don't think it's needed at all. So if you're saving a few pennies and trying to get the most out of your PC gaming setup, I would personally recommend spending your money elsewhere that has the best graphics card, processor, SSD, etc. that I've found already had a decent computer and i just wanted to finish the setup and it did it for me.
