I usually try not to add anything at all to my tank, but I had a cyano flare that was difficult to control, partly due to an exhausted RODI system. I put a small bubbler in the tank, turned off the coal reactor and skimmer (no adjustment needed IMO), and dosed the tank according to the directions. After 48 hours there was no trace of cyano left in the tank. Seriously, the stones are absolutely clean. This will stay in my back pocket if I ever run into this problem in the future, and will also recommend it to anyone I know with a reservoir. Once you have completed this treatment you will need to open the skimmer wide and run plenty of charcoal to prevent overflowing unless you are doing a very large water change (>40%). Basically I had to take the lid off the skimmer collection tank and run a lot of charcoal (one bag in front of the skimmer outlet and one bag in the reactor) and let it overflow for a few days before everything was back to normal.
