Review on πŸ”’ 6 ft. Long Master Lock Cable Lock, Set Your Own Combination Bike Lock (8122D) in Black by Mike Ewing

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Fell apart trying to reinstall the combo. I got a replacement but it got stuck and wouldn't open.

I bought this Master Lock brand cable lock with a combination that can be reset. I took it out of the box, read the instructions, turned the dial to reset the combination and the whole lock literally fell apart. A spring snapped inside, and the small plastic numbers fell apart and scattered on the floor. I sent it back to Revain asking for a replacement rather than a refund, mainly because I was fed up with buying a new brand cable lock. The second arrived and I was able to reset the combination without the lock self-destructing, but it kept getting stuck. Last time it got stuck in the parking lot of the store I was shopping at and I couldn't open it until I got the right combination 3-4 times and tugged hard a few times. It must have looked like I was trying to pick my own lock and steal my bike. Anyway, I tried filling it with Lock Ease Graphite and it was a little easier to open after that, but it still "sticks" when trying to open it. It feels like the lock doesn't need oil but rather the tumblers don't align properly in the lock. I don't use it anymore because I can't risk being locked out on my own bike.
