The insole is really very soft and cushioned which is really nice. But there wasn't much arch support. I have very high arches. Possibly detachable with insert. I wear men's 4E. (I'm a woman but men's shoes are much more comfortable, plus I'm 6'1" so I feel like they're made to be taller.) Brooks doesn't have 4E (very wide) in many of their shoes. . But sometimes 2E suits me very well, so I tried them. Some 4E models were MUCH more expensive. This shoe was too tight. I have to say I have no respect for a shoe company that advertises shoes for problem feet but doesn't offer shoes for people with big feet. A lot of us big feet have foot problems from wearing ill-fitting shoes, which was all we could find before the internet. I will probably not try Brooks shoes again. A company can't be that great if it doesn't seem to fit every foot size. That's very bad because the cushioning was good.
