Review on Tilt Wireless Hydrometer And Thermometer (Green) by Michelle Ramanath

Continuous, hygienic fermentation data

Advantages: Easy to see when fermentation starts and ends without taking a sample. Almost continuous information. The Google Sheet hosted site is already set up and easy to use. Cons: Requires a dedicated smart device in "always-on" mode for continuous measurements. The Bluetooth range is very short - the smart device has to be almost inside the fermenter to take readings. Can't communicate through all fermentation chambers (My phone must be in the fridge, some cones don't work with it). A multi-point calibration is required to get accurate readings. Gravity values are discarded by the launch pad, Krausen, digester walls, CO2, etc. The accompanying manual doesn't mention anything about the multi-point calibration required or the "Krausen Effect" that increases gravity. (yes, rises) as fermentation begins. Price My biggest advantage is that I can get static hydrometer readings for 3 consecutive days to know the fermentation. on the decline. With this device I noticed that the end of the fermentation seemed to take longer than I could read on the hydrometer and this caused me to prolong the fermentation by several days than before. Improvements The device can use Wi-Fi instead of Bluetooth and optionally connect to the PC application. Then there would be no need to waste a smart device (and that's a screen!). In the attached material, mention the sensitivity to PBW (mine sat in PBW for 2 days before I read on the website that it could be harmful.), the Krausen effect and the multi-point calibration required. Or just add a link to your website and remove the "quick start" implying that the device is ready to use. controller), so charging $130 for a device is absurd.
