Review on Syba SD PEX40054 Port SATA Hyper by Francisco Russell

I want to use the PEX-40054 on a motherboard that only has SATA II ports (no SATA III ports) so I can get SATA III speed, without having to buy a new motherboard. Here's what I found with a 512GB Transcend SSD370 with a max read/write speed of 560/460MB/s. On the ASUS P8Z77V-LX board, which has both SATA II and SATA III ports, here is the speed of the SSD (without using the PEX-40054 card): - In the SATA III port, the maximum R/ W speed 504/ 457 MB/s, with CrystalDiskMark 3.0 .1- In SATA II port max. Read/write speed is 275/262 MB/s. I installed the PEX-40054 on a Gigabyte P45-UD3P board that only has SATA II connectors and supports PCI Express 2.0. I put the PEX-40054 in a PCIe x16 slot and connected the SSD to one of the 4 ports. Now the max read/write speed of SSD is 479/458MB/s, which is pretty close to SATA III speed and much faster than SATA II speed. I then plugged the PEX-40054 into a Gigabyte P35-DS4 board that supports PCI Express 1.1. Again, I put the PEX-40054 in the PCIe x16 slot and connected the SSD to one of the 4 ports. The max read/write speed of the SSD is now 378/285MB/s, which is still slightly faster than SATA II. .Conclusion: The PEX-40054 can run faster than SATA II and close on motherboards that support PCI Express 2.0 get close to SATA III. Even on motherboards that only support PCI Express 1.1, PEX-40054 can deliver faster speeds than SATA. II. Please note that I have not used the Hyperduo features of this card. I consider it a bonus but I have no plans to use it. I hope all of this is helpful.
