I already had the 1200 lumen version but I didn't really need that much light. I got this one to save weight & bulk for carrying. Both are very good quality with a very nice zip-up storage box. This smaller one will light up a room enough to see what your doing. Great for power outage or tent light. This probably sounds funny, but I got this light after being in a rest room with motion sensing lights. If I'm the only one in the room & I'm in a stall where the sensor can't detect me, the whole room goes pitch black. I'm handicapped & I was helpless in the dark. I don't EVER want to go through that again. So this light is always with me if I need to go.
