First review. Edited below on 7/3/19: I decided on a phone holder after using it in my wife's car. Your model attaches to an air vent but uses a spring clip system to hold the phone. It was uncomfortable, if not impossible, to put on and take off the phone with one hand. I decided to try the magnetic holder, it's much better. Easy to attach/detach with one hand. The magnet is very strong! I used a small round disc instead of a large rectangular disc in my phone case. I thought if it sticks too tight it will be hard to remove. It holds up great but a larger plate would have made it easier to attach to a magnet due to the wider cover in the case. The same amount of metal will come into contact with the magnet, limited by the diameter of the magnet itself. The vent clip is better than my wife's device. It's spring loaded, and this one has a knob to tighten the clamp and it stays on the vent more securely. This system gives you form, fit and function for your money! I would buy it again. Update 7/3/19: Well I've given up on the magnetic mount! My case is smooth on the back and while the magnet holds very well, my iPhone 7 slowly rotates to the horizontal while driving. At first I thought it was ball joint slippage. It is not. It's the phone itself sliding on a magnet. I even tried roughening the rubber surface of the magnet to make it "more non-slip" but it didn't work. The problem is that the phone case has a hole in the back so the Apple logo is still visible. This means that the metal plate that is inserted into the phone case is in the middle of the case, so the phone doesn't "hang" from a magnet, but is mounted like a pinwheel with a dead center. It will turn. I have a clip on fan mount with leg rests and it's great! I hold it a little loose and can slide the phone in and out without having to loosen or tighten the clamp.
