Excellent radios! for portable audio and video

We used regular farm walkie-talkies to keep in touch (from the forest to the house) and we were never happy, but we didn't want to use it our regular radio. portable radios (Yaesu and iCom) due to misuse and potential loss. We came across the Baofeng radio option on the prep page and decided to give it a try - we couldn't be happier. Don't let the low price fool you - these are great little radios that will make a great addition to any hobbyist. Sure, they're not built like Yaesu, Kenwood, or iCom, but you have to be realistic - these little guys only cost $30. In my opinion they are easier to program than any of our more expensive radios - I've programmed several simplex (2 meters and 70 cm) and 2 local repeaters (2 meters and 70 cm) without any problems. Once you get the idea that each memory channel has a transmit and receive frequency and you need to program both, the rest is easy. I was going to use the CHIRP software to program the radios but found it not worth setting up - programming the radios by hand was very easy. The range of the radios is more than acceptable for our purpose, but the range can be increased by changing the antenna. Of course, they don't have all the bells and whistles, but they do what they're supposed to do - provide a good and cheap connection.
