Great radios at a great price

Radios as advertised, very good and factory programmed. These radios are very capable of transmitting on all GMRS, FRS and HAM frequencies so you should probably purchase a license. The documentation that comes with them is pretty terrible when it comes to explaining what everything does/means. For a beginner this will be difficult. If you know what you're doing, at least a little, these little radios are great. You'll need to buy a programming cable to use their full potential because they…

Pros
  • Pleasant to use

Great radios with many settings. WORTH THE MONEY

Excellent radios. Use for industrial maintenance, engineering/surveying and personal use. We didn't want to spend a lot of money on radios as they tend to fail in the harsh environment we work in. Ideal for programming private channels and listening to our customers' frequencies/channels for security and communications alerts. It is a lightweight device and can be easily carried around throughout the day. I bought a whip antenna for it. I highly recommend these if you are working or mobile to…

Excellent radios! the best in CB and radio equipment

We used walkie-talkies around the farm to keep in touch (forest at home) and were never happy, but we didn't want to use our normal ham radios (Yaesu and iCom) due to misuse and loss. We came across the Baofeng radio option on the prep page and decided to give it a try - we couldn't be happier. Don't let the low price fool you - these are great little radios that will make a great addition to any hobbyist. Sure, they're not built like Yaesu, Kenwood, or iCom, but you have to be realistic…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Good luck with your money

So far the radios seem pretty reliable for the price. Selecting a radio channel is fairly intuitive, although many of the menu items work rather cryptically without a guide next to the radio the moment you program them. Testing VHF in our area with rolling mountains 300-400 feet high and small canyons showed the distance was about 6-7 miles on the first test. We need to do more testing to make sure it's fully functional. UHF was not tested due to lack of time. Speaker quality isn't great, but…

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Great walkie-talkies when set up properly. So.

Great radios! I use them as walkie talkies. I bought two first, tested them out on Mammoth Mountain and was impressed enough to buy two more for larger groups. Voice quality and reception were perfect. Far from the rubbish of the Uniden toys my friend used on the last trip which were illegible and had no reception in most places. The battery life is a few days. It's good. However, if you didn't already know, they can't be used off the shelf. However, they can hardly be legalized if you put them

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Security
