I bought two chains of these lamps, 150 lamps each. I plugged in the first string and as I unwound it the middle 50 lights went out and then came back on as soon as I moved the string. I moved the string again, dimmed the middle 50, then turned it back on with another string move. At that moment I rewound it, unwound it and connected the second string. It is not a problem if the lights on the second garland remain on throughout the process of installing the lights on the Christmas tree or after. It should be noted that I waited a reasonable amount of time without touching the faulty cord to see if these bulbs were blinking for some reason like some Christmas lights do. The lights did not go out or flash sequentially unless touched. I also have to say that the bulbs seemed to get a little warm on a good garland and I've never noticed this with other mini Christmas garlands I've been exposed to. Since I never lit my tree when I wasn't around, the warmth I noticed didn't stop me from using this filament. Ultimately, quality control seems to be an issue as I hit .500 with only two strings.
