Review on 🦎 Zilla Reptile Terrarium Litter Bedding Substrate Cleaner with Corner Scoop by Heidi Wilson

Great as a sifter; not very good at first pickup.

If you're an ailurophile lover who also frets that you missed the gold rush days, this is your tool. Digging in kitty litter now becomes like prospecting for gold. The strainer really works and catches the little bits that have broken off the larger ones, those pesky bits that fall out of a regular dustpan. You shake, shake, shake, and the smallest pieces remain, and grains of sand are sifted through smaller holes. What counteracts this blade, however, is the angled face of the bayonet. I do not understand. I think if you have a gopher or other rodent that lives in a litter box and you really want to attack it while cleaning it, this will work fine. Since I don't have rodents in cat areas (probably because my cat's existence will make sure of that), the triangular front just gets in my way. I see the piece I want to get, I aim the sieve at it, but when I lift the sieve the piece I need falls off the side of the triangle with the most debris. The only part that contains debris is the rear 2/3 of the bucket with sidewalls. And I can't get close enough to the corners and edges of the litter box to retrieve items that are on the edge because the triangle interferes with my ability to get close to the edges of the trash can. The things I strive for either don't rise or fall out of corners. It's actually pretty annoying. I'm thinking of just snapping off the triangular front and shaping the MacGyver into a regular scoop shape. Because the screen holes are so thin, it takes too long to shake them to remove large chunks, so I use my regular cat litter scoop to remove the large clumps and solids first, and then do it again with this finer screen.
