Review on Hankook Tire Winter i*Pike RS2 W429 185/65 R15 92T by Stanislaw Mielicki ᠌

There are pros and cons, think before buying.

I switched to this rubber from Pirelli Ice Zero, which did not reach the fifth season due to damage to one of the wheels, with a diagnosis of "non-repairable". Naturally, the replacement was provided only by the kit. Since the tire change took place in the middle of winter, I can evaluate these tires with a fair degree of objectivity in comparison with the old ones. After reading a few, at that time, reviews, and tests from "authoritative" publications, I decided to try a promising new product. Disappointment hit me instantly. And this despite the fact that I put on new tires instead of five years old. If on Pirelli I held the steering wheel, exaggeratedly, with one finger, Hankook did not allow me to relax for a second. Exchange rate stability is missing a little less than completely. You sit in tension, clutching the steering wheel with a stranglehold. On the ring, laying the usual turn, almost flew into a snowdrift due to an unexpected and sharp demolition. In urban mode, it is still tolerable, but the track is definitely not for this rubber. Where Pirelli allowed to go 130 km / h, on Hankuk, already at 80 km / h, the instinct of self-preservation begins to wake up. A request to those who have already prepared to write moralizing about the choice of speed limits in winter, keep them to yourself. I have enough experience to feel the line between what road conditions, weather, car, tires, and finally, allow, and what they do not allow. Ice and packed snow is tolerable. Porridge is below average. Icy asphalt is bad. Ice under a thin layer of snow is bad, Dry asphalt is bad. I'll add a spoonful of honey to this barrel of tar. In deep snow Hankook surprised. This time in a good way. Perhaps this is the most passable rubber known to me. Even the famous "rogue" Goodyear Ultragrip Ice Arctic, in which two other cars are shod, including all-wheel drive, is subjectively one step behind. The end of winter was marked by snowfalls and the opportunity to test Hankuk in action presented itself more than once. Conclusion: tires are suitable for a small town or village with snowy roads and low speeds.

Pros
  • - pretty quiet - spikes while everything is in place - traction in deep snow -price
Cons
  • -controllability - track sensitivity - exchange rate stability
