This review is for the Ikea SYMFONISK speaker and not the seller(s) asking a price higher than the actual selling price. The speaker retails for $99 and is an Ikea exclusive. This is my first experience with Sonos speakers and I'm happy to say they are excellent. I bought one of these speakers to put on my bookshelf and use as the default music speaker for the Google Home Mini. The speaker pairs perfectly with Google Home once the Sonos app is connected, directing all music there automatically and seamlessly. The design really stands out from all other smart speakers and draws on the simple, modernist aesthetic that has made IKEA so popular. This speaker fits perfectly on my bookshelf and is barely noticeable until use. I like the fact that it can be positioned vertically or horizontally. What really makes it special is its wonderfully balanced sound. I can hear so many nuances of music through this speaker that my Google Home device was completely lacking. The app's Sonos volume button gently boosts high and low frequencies for sound that truly transcends the size of the speaker. While the volume can reach high levels, there seems to be an audible compression that reduces dynamics when the volume is increased by around 50 percent. However, I believe most buyers will not perceive this as a "night" speaker due to its looks.
