This is a great accessory for anyone looking to save energy. I bought this because I was moving across the country and bought a new HD TV to replace the one I left behind when I discovered the new TV didn't support the daily timer. I often watch TV before bed to relax and sometimes I fall asleep while doing it. I once set a daily timer on my old TV and the TV would turn itself off in the middle of the night every night. With my new device I had to set a new timer every day and it had to be within 2 hours of when I wanted to turn off the device. Buying this power strip was a great way to get the same functionality without having to buy another TV. The timer divides the day into 96 15-minute intervals along a circular scale, each of which can be manually toggled to turn off the extender. up to four items associated with it during that time. If you want something (like a desktop computer) to have continuous power, just plug it into one of the other four outlets. My timer is about 5 minutes behind, but it's accurate enough for my purposes. My only concern is that it's not clear if the power strip provides true surge protection. The advert seems to suggest so, but without a guarantee I wouldn't want to risk it. I connected this power strip to a surge protector and will probably leave it as is, although the floor under my desk looks a bit clunky. Pros: - Does what it says on the tin and does it well. Cons: - Doesn't appear to offer surge protection. - The timer may be off a bit.
