Avoid and buy chrome

The plastic parts and their many flaws make this purchase pointless when the Bodum chrome version is only around $10. more.- In the first few months of normal use, the plastic leg broke at the pressure point, causing stability and safety issues for the decanter - The plastic housing of the filter screw eventually failed and the plunger pierced the bottom, leaving the filter in the middle of the carafe. Still holds up most of the time, but a grind that's too fine creates enough pressure to remove the body and send the plunger - the carafe's plastic body doesn't tighten, leaving the glass in constant danger of slipping when pouring coffee or cleaning . That's probably a much higher margin for Bodum compared to Chrome considering it's mostly cheap plastic and a glass carafe that you'll likely be replacing on a regular basis unless you exercise consistent care. I'd spend a few bucks more and get the Chrome version right away; I've also had one of these for years and it's the exact opposite of this review, a great product.

Pros
  • I have my fingers crossed
Cons
  • I don't like anything about it, everything is fine
