Small washcloth rod prevents the sides of the cloth from being used for anything other than a sponge. I was going to put hand soap on the rim of the tray but the rod is in the way. A bottle of dish soap fits perfectly in a mug, as does a dish brush. But even my smallest kitchen napkins would drag across the counter when folded in half and placed on the counter. Just not very functional and a lot of wasted space. i give it back
