Review on πŸ”₯ R.W.FLAME 36" Electric Fireplace Insert: Touch Screen, Remote Control, Timer & Colorful Flame Option by Geoffrey Graham

Looks good but then goes down.

The unit itself looks sturdy and the flame effect is very well done, but that's where the good stuff ends. A "flaming" projector motor makes a ticking noise (the higher the speed of the flame, the faster the ticking noise - see bearings wearing out. I expect an electric fan motor to have a reasonable noise, but I don't need to switch it). Turn on the TV to drown it out. Besides, it doesn't generate as much heat as you would expect from a set of this size. There is a 9" x 1.25" hole that allows heat to pass through the top center of unit directs over flame 11" (left) and 8.5" (right) holes on sides are air intakes, has a thermostat and costs less than half the price. Remote control mostly works, but it looks looks like it has to be close or at right angles (or whatever) to work.Requires a CR2025 battery which may only need replacing but I find that odd given the limited use and brief ownership currently (3 months). In terms of heat control, there are only high and low heat settings. For the money I would have expected an adjustable thermostat. I miscalculated. Now I know what 750/1500 watts means. It's a shame I didn't research further beforehand. I guess it doesn't matter as it doesn't heat the room as efficiently as we would like, so it doesn't matter what temperature we set it to. To be honest I may be asking too much as these are two rooms totaling 25 x 15 (375 feet), which is close to the 400 foot limit in the description. On a positive note, it appears to be fairly energy efficient. This was our first year of using space heaters in addition to gas heating and it has definitely reduced our natural gas bills somewhat while our electric bills have increased more than usual. It was still saving money ($20-30) cumulatively per month which is always a plus and made sense to have in the first place. In short - I personally would not recommend this device. It looks good, but it just doesn't live up to the hefty $400 price point.

Pros
  • MULTIPLE OPERATING MODES: Front panel touchscreen; 5 color modes for flames and burning logs; 5 flame speed modes; 5 flame brightness levels; special automatic design (flame color and brightness change automatically); time control from 1 to 8 hours; Remote control working distance 8m; Sleep modes with all lights off during heating.
Cons
  • Big and chunky
