I've had several vacuum sealers over the years and none of them have lasted very long. I had a gift card and decided to try this. At first I had a terrible time sealing anything. I read a lot of positive reviews, so I started looking into how to make videos. Suddenly I realized that I hadn't put the rubber grommet on the bottom of the device. And voila! it worked great! It is very quiet and takes up almost no space. Other vacuum sealers require you to cut off the top of the bags to open them. After repeated use, the bags become too small to be reused. Not so with this system. Basically they are zippers. I took 4 storage because the seal on the storage container isn't impressive. I read that glass is better than plastic. But I found that they didn't stay sealed for more than a day. Of course, they are very easy to seal, but who wants to constantly check them? But for me this is not an obstacle. I've found the Rubbermaid glitter cases to work GREAT and are a great alternative. I am very happy with the bags - I would even say they seal as well as my vacuum bags. I will keep this twin and buy more bags. I find the 1 gallon bags more versatile - I prefer them to the stock kit, although I was only able to find them direct from Gemini as all the others were out of stock.
