They are [NOT] okay. (Updated)

Hello, this is my update. My original review is below the dashed line.I used these lights to light up a large area in my basement, as a workspace. These lights are NOT ideal for that situation whatsoever. There were important factors to lighting I have sadly only realized after this purchase. These lights CRI is terrible. CRI is Color Rendering Index. The colors under this light look awful, they are heavily distorted by the light. I use this light under its white setting. If you plan on using a colored setting, go ahead, they work fine. NEVER use the white setting. Because its RGB, there isnt actually a white LED. Its just using all of the bulbs at the same time, faking white. This could work in theory, but in practice you get a teal-cyan-ish white that is very blue. These LEDs are also extremely glaring. With no diffusing cover (Which often for LED strips are quite expensive) they are harsh on the eyes, and could potentially cause permanent retinal damage from the unfiltered glare. These lights should have an advisory against use in direct eye contact, and not in the back of a manual tucked away.Overall, these lights work great if A: You are using them in a place where you cant see the actual LEDs, but just their light. And B: if you do not want a white color, but rather want RGB colors. They are easy to set up, stick well to most surfaces, and are widely compatible with many imitation products (Though, this is one). However, I cannot recommend them. There are better options online with richer colors, higher quality, and better lighting. If you dont care about color quality, and just want a red light under your desk, go to town. Otherwise, do some lighting research about CRI and such. For 20 dollars, these are a good deal for a quick lighting job. They look good, they stick good, and they just work good. They use the 5050 LED standard, which has many accessories for helping with set-ups. They can also connect to your phone via Bluetooth (You need the HappyLights app, this is mentioned in the manual, but nowhere else.). The Bluetooth connection is great, and renders the cheapy IR remotes useless, but needs location on, for some reason, and needs the app on. People in the reviews said it works with Alexa, but I haven't found out how, and it doesn't seem to be officially supported.Installation is easy. They are curled at first in their spool, you unwind them, peel the sticky backing, and slap them on a surface. They have cuttable connections every few inches. These are very long, and your given 3 separate spools. Along with a few extra sticky pads and tape pads for installation. As for the Cons, there's quite a bit. The LEDs don't have a true white, they just shine all the lights at once. This wouldn't be an issue if the blue LEDs aren't so overpowering. Making the white color feel like a soft blue. The LEDs aren't too bright either. A bit dimmer than your standard light bulb when at full brightness. If your looking for adjustable, low light, this is great. If you want bright light, or adjustable low-bright lighting, look for higher quality LEDs.The tape works well enough to stick after being peeled off, though not nearly as strong as before. If your LEDs are going to be in plain vision, consider a diffuser. The LEDs are quite harsh to look at uncovered, and can make your eyes strain pretty easily. The LEDs can also misfire if they are put under pressure. I used a small bit of leftover strip for underneath my shelfs. One of them has quite a bit of weight on it, and as the LED strip goes under the shelf, and between its support, it gets pinched. Causing 3 LEDs to change the wrong color. Its set to a blue, and 2 are green, and one is orange. This can be very annoying if you need a specific lighting set-up.Overall, they are cheap, have TONS of useable LEDs, but are limited in functionality, have issues avoided by higher quality brands, but are good if you don't need a lot of light, and aren't going to be directly seeing them.
