Review on SanDisk Ultra Fit USB πŸ’Ύ 3.1 Flash Drive - 256GB Capacity (SDCZ430-256G-G46) by Tres Carmon

Great little high capacity stick - took less than 2 years to update

I wanted a bigger stick to back up my laptop (not my only backup device). It was the largest capacity but the smallest size I could find. After it arrived I ran the standard fake flash check and this drive was actually 256GB. Copying my laptop's OS image was smooth and faster than my old 32GB flash drive. But it was a USB 2 device. Test launch and use has shown that it is reliable and fast enough in case something happens to my normal SSD. Even starting LibreOffice was quick, less than 5 seconds. Please note that I've overwritten the built-in FAT32 filesystem since I'm using ZFS on Linux. This drive works great with alternative operating systems and file systems. And my current laptop only has USB 3.0 (5 Gb/s) with slower processors (Dual Core Celeron). So this flash drive is likely to be faster on newer hardware. Eventually I knew it wasn't as fast as some lower capacity flash drives. Check the specs and make sure you understand before you buy. Update: Removed all but 1 star. The first device started failing about 6 months ago, so it didn't last 2 years. It was little used, mainly for monthly backups. As a result, I gave up and bought a device from another brand. The second device bought about 14 months ago is still running on another computer for backups and alternative bootable recovery media.
